Doorway would like to thank everyone who took part in our first ever sleep out.

We had more than 40 brave volunteers who signed up to take part in the Sleep Out at Nuneaton Borough Football Club to raise money and awareness of homelessness in Warwickshire.

The event raised an amazing £8,600 which will help to fund our work.

While the Sleep Out event did not try to replicate homelessness, it gave everyone an insight into the challenges faced by people who are forced to sleep rough night after night; the biting cold, uncomfortable surroundings, and the difficulty of carrying on the next day after very little sleep.

One volunteer said

The wet cold weather made sleeping difficult and we were all fortunate to be able to go home, hit the shower and snuggle into bed for a couple of hours. The experience gave me an uncomfortable glimpse into the plight of a homeless person.

We would also like to thank the following for their help and sponsorship which helped make the night such a success.
