Doorway Donate Fundraise Making a donation to Doorway allows us to plan for the long term. It helps us to meet future challenges and develop new and innovative ways to help young people change their lives. All donations to Doorway are gratefully received and 92p in ever £1 donated goes directly to our frontline services for homeless young people, so that you can be sure your money is being well spent. Only 15% of our income is from statutory sources (such as local authorities or central government) so we really value all contributions to the other 75% of our running costs. LEGACY GIVING Have you ever thought of leaving money in your will for Doorway? Any gift no matter how big or small can help us to fulfil our ambitions for future generations of those we help. Our promise: We will never ask you your intentions, it's not of our business and it's private and we will keep it that way. We will never contact you about this way of giving. Its just one way Other ways to help There are lots other ways you can help. We rely on donations of food and starter pack items. Starter packs are given to each young person moving into their first independent accommodation. Many new tenancies fail in the initial stages because of a lack of financial resources that provide the basic household items that turn a house into a home. By providing these essentials, starter packs can help eliminate the ‘revolving door’ experience of many homeless young people. Below are some ideas of what you can donate. Toiletries Being able to have a wash or shower and smell nice, even if you have no home of your own to go to is essential, especially when you are looking for a job. We hold emergency supplies but these always need topping up and we can use them in our shower facilities at the drop-in centre too. Bed linen Young people moving into their first independent accommodation with Doorway are very short on belongings as well as money. Please see our wish list below of items we always need. Single sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases give them the basics to start them off. Please note these items must be brand new in packaging to comply with fire regulations. Non-perishable foods: We receive generous donations at Christmas which are most welcome. However, we do like to be able to offer emergency food packages as required so these items are of value all year round.
