Are you are thinking of donating to Doorway this Christmas?

Doorway are taking part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2017.

Donations received from #Giving Tuesday 12 noon, Tuesday 28th November until 12 noon on Tuesday 5th December will be DOUBLED so your donation will have twice the impact, BUT ONLY BETWEEN THESE DATES.

There are also other ways you can help.  We rely on donations of food and starter pack items.  Starter packs are given to each young person moving into their first independent accommodation.   Many new tenancies fail in the initial stages because of a lack of financial resources that provide the basic household items that turn a house into a home.  By providing these essentials, starter packs can help eliminate the ‘revolving door’ experience of many homeless young people.

Below are some ideas of what you can donate.

Being able to have a wash or shower and smell nice, even if you have no home of your own to go to is essential, especially when you are looking for a job. We hold emergency supplies but these always need topping up and we can use them in our shower facilities at the drop-in centre too.

Bed linen

Young people moving into their first independent accommodation with Doorway are very short on belongings as well as money.  Please see our wish list below of items we always need.   Single sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases give them the basics to start them off. Please note these items must be brand new in packaging to comply with fire regulations.

Non-perishable foods:

We receive generous donations at Christmas which are most welcome. However, we do like to be able to offer emergency food packages as required so these items are of value all year round.
