A local film company approached Doorway and members of Doorway's Young People's Group were passionate about making a film to dispel the myths about youth homelessness. The film called  "Hidden Homelessness IS an Issue" was produced.  Please watch it above.  The group were all fully involved.  All gained new skills working as a team and all reported they had increased  self-confidence. 

Doorway has worked with more than 10,000 young people since 1997.   It is unfortunate our services are still as vital now as they were when we started.  Here are some statistics about youth homelessness.

• In Nuneaton and Bedworth homelessness has risen by 200% since 2010.
• In Warwickshire homelessness has increased by 26% between 2016-2017.
• Nationally rough sleeping has increased by 73% over the past three years and locally in Nuneaton and Bedworth it has risen by a staggering 200% since 2010.
• It is estimated that the average annual cost to the public of each young person sleeping rough is £20,000.
• 86,000 young people asked for help from their local council in 2016/17 because they were homeless or at risk of homelessness.
