We are delighted to announce that the new Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth, Chris Watkins has chosen Doorway as his charity of the year. The Mayor's Appeal 2018-2019 has now been launched.

Our Aim

In the current climate, private rental costs are spiraling resulting in high upfront costs as well as fewer places to rent. We are struggling to help young people who simply don’t have the money required to rent.  Consequently this is leading to more young people becoming homeless.

Therefore, Doorway would desperately like to own a property to provide safe, secure accommodation for homeless young people in the Nuneaton and Bedworth area. This will be a massive help for these vulnerable young people as they won’t need to find a deposit to move in. This will be a major factor in preventing local homeless young people from finding themselves on the streets.

We would like the property to be shared accommodation with a homely atmosphere where they live with other young people to reduce social isolation. The bedrooms will be furnished and the property will provide an environment where they can grow and thrive.

We hope the residents of Nuneaton & Bedworth will support the Mayors Charity appeal which will benefit both homeless young people and the local community as a whole.

There is so much we want to do and funding is always a challenge. We are delighted that the new Mayor has chosen Doorway as his charity – it will help to raise the profile of our work as well as bringing in valuable donations. Carol Gallagher, CEO
