A Place To Stay

When our young people said that they wanted to make a film to raise the awareness of youth homelessness and challenge stereotypical views, little did we realise the impact it would make both locally and nationally. 'A Place to Stay has been shown throughout Warwickshire and seen by other young people, frontline workers, managers, commissioners and Councillors.

'A Place To Stay' has been included as a case study in the national campaign resource publication: ‘Youth Arts Transforms Lives’ which illustrates the real impact of participation in the arts and culture with, for and by young people. The publication can be found by following this link:

Doorway Music Video:

Doorway's Young People's Group worked closely with Community Arts Workshop to make an urban street dance music video about youth homelessness. There were weekly workshops to write the lyrics, design the graffiti board, develop their ideas, record the singing, learning urban street dance and filming.

The film was launched at the Odeon Cinema in Nuneaton on 22nd April 2010 and introduced by 6 of the young people involved in different aspects of making the film.

Doorway Achieves Gold Standard!
We are delighted to announce that we received the Gold Award from Warwickshire County Council, Warwickshire Award for Involvement which was presented at the Odeon Cinema after the launch of A Place to Stay.

This is a kite mark scheme to support projects like Doorway to benchmark and improve their practice and policy around how they involve children, young people and families in the design, development and evaluation of services. Well done to all our young people and staff at Doorway for their achievement.
